Your Privacy Choices
Where Mawtini stands
- Mawtini does not sell personal information, and never has.
- Mawtini does not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- Mawtini does not use personal information for targeted advertising or profiling.
- Mawtini collects no personal information at all, which is why there is nothing here to opt out of.
Many apps put a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on this page. Mawtini has no such mechanism because there is no sale, no sharing and no collection to switch off. What this page gives you instead is the complete, honest list of every control that genuinely affects your data — and exactly how to use each one.
1. Turn iCloud sync off
Sync keeps your Memory Map identical across your iPhone and iPad, using your own private iCloud database. If you would rather your progress never left the one device:
- Open the iOS Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap iCloud, then See All under apps using iCloud.
- Find Mawtini and turn it off.
The app carries on working exactly as before — the progress simply stays on that device. You can also turn iCloud Drive off entirely, which stops every app from syncing.
2. Delete the iCloud copy
Turning sync off leaves whatever was already synced in place. To remove it:
- Open Settings → your name → iCloud.
- Tap Manage Account Storage (on some versions, Manage Storage).
- Select Mawtini from the list.
- Choose Delete Data and confirm.
This erases the stored progress from your Apple Account. The developer cannot do this for you and cannot see whether you have — the private database is yours alone.
3. Delete everything on the device
Deleting the app removes its local store, settings and cached content from that device. Touch and hold the Mawtini icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App.
Order matters. If you want a genuinely clean slate, delete the iCloud data (step 2) before reinstalling. Otherwise a fresh install will sync your old progress back down, which is usually what people want — but not if you were trying to start over.
4. Avoid the one network request
Playing Mawtini makes no network requests whatsoever. The single exception is Settings → More apps, which asks Apple's public App Store lookup service for the icons of the developer's other apps. It sends nothing about you, and it is confined to that screen.
If you would prefer the app never to make it: simply do not open that screen. The app is fully functional without it. You can also block Mawtini from using mobile data or Wi-Fi entirely in Settings → Mobile Data (or by using airplane mode) — everything except iCloud sync and that one screen behaves identically offline.
5. Tracking, ads and notifications
There is nothing to opt out of, because none of it is present:

6. Your App Store choices
Apple, not the developer, handles your download record and the aggregate statistics shown in App Store Connect. Those are governed by Apple's own settings and policies:
- Personalised recommendations — Settings → App Store → Personalised Recommendations.
- Sharing analytics with developers — Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers. Mawtini receives nothing from this beyond Apple's anonymous aggregates, but the switch is yours.

7. Sharing a village or a badge
The share buttons in the app create an image on your device and hand it to the standard iOS share sheet. Nothing is uploaded anywhere by Mawtini, and nothing is shared unless you pick a destination yourself. Once you send it to another app, that app's own privacy policy takes over.
8. Your emails to me
If you have written to mawtini@qraiqe.no, I hold that correspondence. You may ask me at any time to tell you what I hold, to correct it, or to delete it — just say so in a reply, and I will confirm when it is done.
9. Exercising a legal right
To make a request under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or any comparable law, email mawtini@qraiqe.no and describe what you want. No particular form or wording is needed. I will respond within one month, and I will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.
Because there are no accounts, I cannot look you up in a user database — there isn't one. For anything held on your device or in your iCloud, the controls above put the whole of it in your hands, immediately, without needing to ask me at all. That is by design.
If you are in the EEA and believe your rights have not been respected, you may complain to your national supervisory authority; in Norway that is Datatilsynet.
